On the third day of Christmas...

my multi-talented art friend for many years, Sally Turlington, from Huntsville, TX made for me..
A beautiful vintage style pillow ornament! Isn't this amazing?!  This is the front side.
 And this is the back.
Unfortunately, I dropped my camera this morning when I started to take pictures...and it broke!  My bad...and luckily I still have my trusty old Olympus - but these pictures do NOT do this lovely ornament justice. 

This ornament is about the size of a postcard. It looks like Sally used a heat press to fuse the collage imagery to heavy artist's canvas fabric.  Look closely and you'll see that the Mother and child focal point is in the background with layer upon layer of translucent and textural embellishments added over top. This is such a cool technique - the final result shows off all the dimensional layers but everything is pressed flat and it has an old world look and feel of old leather. Then she carefully cut and sewed two finished pieces together to fashion into a tiny pillow - complete with frayed edges.
